The Galaxy S24 FE was launched a while ago, but it’s too early to tell what the Galaxy S25 FE will bring us. Suppose such a device is released next year. However, there have been mixed reports about Samsung’s plans for the Exynos chip, and they may provide a window into the future of the Fan Edition smartphone series, especially the rumored Galaxy S25 FE.
Some rumors (via) @chunvn8888) Samsung says it quietly canceled the Exynos 2500 SoC after seeing how it couldn’t match the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. As such, the company will be using the Snapdragon 8 Elite across the Galaxy S25 series worldwide. If true, this is mixed news.
Bad news for Samsung’s Exynos division and fans of the Exynos brand (if there are any left). Good news for Galaxy S25 fans looking for a Snapdragon chip. And this is kind of bad news for Fan Edition phone buyers, since the cancellation of the Exynos 2500 leaves the Galaxy S25 FE with very few chip options.
Galaxy S25 FE uses the same Exynos 2400 as this year’s flagships
Samsung’s currently in-development Galaxy S24 FE uses a slightly modified version of the Exynos 2400 chip, called the Exynos 2400e. The latter is slightly underclocked, but performs well in our experience.

The launch of Exynos 2400e has led to speculation that the Galaxy S25 FE will use a slightly modified Exynos 2500e SoC. But if the base Exynos 2500 doesn’t exist, then the 2500e variant won’t exist either.
That’s why some think Samsung will use the regular Exynos 2400 chip for the Galaxy S25 FE. That way, the company can still say that the Galaxy S25 FE has a more powerful chip than the previous generation. The Exynos 2400 is technically superior to the Exynos 2400e, even if by a small margin.
Again, it’s too early to be sure about the future of the Galaxy S25 FE, with some reports indicating that Samsung is still working on the Exynos 2500 chip. Some have suggested that the Galaxy S25 FE may switch to a MediaTek solution. The future is still uncertain.
