Google’s bite-sized blocks of information in Search are expanding to more places today (October 28).
In a post on Keywords, Google announced its “biggest expansion yet” to provide an overview of AI in search to more than 100 countries around the world. The company highlighted its latest availability support post on AI Overview. This feature is being rolled out in many countries from the Americas to Asia Pacific and Europe/Africa.
Joining this rapid global expansion is another update to expand Google’s language support for search engine functionality. The post touts that AI Overview is available to users “in any country” and can be viewed in their native or preferred language.
For example, Google says that in addition to English, users who speak Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese can also receive support.
After launching public testing of AI Overview in March, Google launched bite-sized features for all users in May. This big announcement was made during the company’s annual I/O event on the future of the ecosystem. The debut of AI Overviews comes on Google’s confidence that the software can handle more “complex” queries. The company said users no longer need to break their questions into smaller pieces.
These small information boxes are designed to provide users with the most important details without having to read for long. Additionally, users will also see the source link so they can double-check what the AI said if they are concerned.
Most recently, Google implemented a new “uncluttered” view of search results along with AI Overview. The highlight of this update is that users can now find a “full page” experience in search, with discovered information listed in order of “relevance.” Additionally, this global expansion of AI Overviews could reflect Google incorporating more advertising.
The update in early October resulted in an increase in ad numbers after the company received “positive feedback” about the ads. Ads will be displayed during “Related Queries”. Google aims to help you with your searches.
