Los Angeles Metro has released the latest version of its “Transit Watch” app. The app features new features such as the ability for passengers to report security, safety or maintenance issues directly to authorities.
“We all have a role to play in making our systems more secure,” said Robert Gummer, deputy commissioner for systems security and law enforcement. “Whether you’re on your way to work, school, or visiting a friend, we want to know whenever we see something of interest. Enhanced features in Transit Watch 3.0 Now you can share your precise location, video, and other information with us in real time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Metro added that in addition to the direct connection to security, the third version of the app has the following features:
- Real-time translation of incoming and outgoing messages to accommodate users with limited English proficiency.
- The optional “Share Location” feature allows you to easily select the location you want to report, such as a train station, bus stop, train, or bus.
- Expanded media features allow users to upload videos in addition to photos
