Flashing or installing new Android updates on your Pixel often has both intended and unintended consequences. One of them is battery life, has Android 15 improved the battery life of your Pixel after updating?
Since launch and rollout on October 15, anyone with a Pixel 6 or newer device can now update to Google’s latest OS. By last year’s standards, Android 15 is a small update. We’re focused on improving and enhancing your experience. It’s smoother, cleaner, and overall more efficient.
It remains to be seen whether that efficiency has translated into better battery on Pixel phones since installing Android 15. As a side note, our team has seen improvements in day-to-day lifespan for the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold. Older devices with a lot of wear and tear may not see a noticeable improvement, but if you felt like your device was short-lived before you installed Android 15, you’ll definitely see a benefit.
Placebo effects are often noticeable around renewal time. I’ve failed at this in the past, thinking that my phone’s battery just got better, only to die after a few days, or go back to the old lifespan issues. The Pixel 4 series certainly comes to mind.
That being said, in some cases you may be able to flash problematic apps or services with improved compatibility simply by installing a new OS. Security patches are also important to prevent potentially malicious apps and processes from running in the background, draining your battery, and sometimes causing bigger problems than battery life.
