What you need to know

  • Our One UI 7 hands-on video showcases cool new visuals like updated icons, widgets, smoother animations, and a split quick settings and notifications panel.
  • When you plug it in, you’ll see a flashy charging animation, as well as various other UI improvements.
  • This update introduces useful gestures to adjust brightness and toggle dark mode, and notifications now have their own dedicated panel.
  • The camera app has been significantly redesigned for one-handed use, with a focus on easier access to modes and zoom options.

Samsung is slowly progressing the development of Android 15 for Galaxy devices and is still waiting for details on the upcoming beta version. That said, after a brief preview at SDC last month, we now have a fresher look at One UI 7 in a new hands-on video.

Mobile Wala Bhai recently shared a video on YouTube that was spotted by 9to5Google. This video gives you an early look at Samsung’s upcoming One UI 7 running smoothly on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The source of this leak is still a bit of a mystery, as Samsung has yet to announce the official beta version of One UI 7.

Nevertheless, this video shows a solid preview of Samsung’s upcoming OS update. It highlights fresh visuals such as revamped icons, widgets, smoother animations, updated widgets, and a split quick settings and notifications panel.

Some of these upgrades have been hinted at for some time, but this footage finally shows how they will be integrated in the interface. Swiping down from the top now reveals a more feature-packed quick settings panel with additional options.

As pointed out by 9to5Google, the video also introduces a new battery icon at the top of the screen. This redesigned icon is now horizontal and now displays the battery percentage within it.

The video also revealed a charging animation that lights up the screen when the device is connected, and several other new UI improvements in the update.

The update introduced smart gestures such as swiping left or right to adjust screen brightness and tapping to turn dark mode on or off. Additionally, notifications are now separated into a dedicated panel separate from other settings and toggles.

Meanwhile, the standard camera app has received significant improvements aimed at one-handed use. The revamped interface highlights different camera modes and zoom options for easy access.

The exact release date of this update is not yet known, but we do know that it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
