Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 Ultra early next year with new features, but here are five specific reasons to be excited about its upcoming flagship.
Besides the S25 Ultra, the company is planning two other phones in the S25 band, including a standard model and a Plus version, but we’ll limit ourselves to the Ultra in this article.
The Ultra variant defines Samsung’s top-of-the-line hardware and software features. This phone has everything a flagship user could think of. In the next version, the company will further enhance the specifications of the Ultra with five new additions. these are:
- display and design
- performance
- camera
- battery
- software
screen
Screens are a key draw for Samsung’s Ultra devices, and the S24 U led the segment with slimmer bezels. It features a 6.8-inch rounded corner display with Quad HD+ resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate.
Based on recent reports, the S25 Ultra will have an improved display with rounded corners next to the central frame. Unlike its predecessor, this new device features a flat frame to emphasize the slim display sides. This is the first time Samsung has opted for a flat frame instead of curved edges.
With a new LED configuration, the S25 Ultra can enlarge the screen to 6.86 inches, improving visual quality and viewing angles.
With a new frame and display optimization, Samsung is aiming for a slightly thinner and lighter body for better handling in the hand.
performance
Galaxy S25 Ultra uses Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile processor. This chipset offers 45% more performance, 44% more power efficiency, and a larger shared data cache.
The new Adreno GPU has a better architecture, delivering 40% more performance and 40% more game frame efficiency.
Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 45% Hexagon NPU improves AI task processing performance by 45%, delivering similarly enhanced performance per watt. Newer chips can support longer token inputs.
camera
The S25 Ultra uses a 200MP main camera, a 10MP secondary telephoto with 3x zoom, and a 50MP primary periscope zoom with 5x zoom. The specifications of these cameras are the same as the previous Ultra models, but a new change is the addition of a 50MP ultra-wide angle.
This new lens, like the main camera, will help improve your photography and videography.
Snapdragon 8 Elite combines AI for ISP and Hexagon NPU to deliver smart camera capabilities and improved 4K photo and video capture. It also supports image editing features such as video objective lens remover.
battery
The next-gen S series is likely to retain the previous generation’s 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. However, new software and chipsets may improve power efficiency and extend battery life.
software
One UI 7 debuts on Galaxy S25 devices with new graphical changes. For example, the new One UI has updated the appearance and interactivity of Quick Settings.
Apart from the UI, the company has made small tweaks to simplify the interface. Important parts of the system, such as settings and searching within the device, are implemented using AI.
AI software capabilities may also be extended to system apps, primarily impacting camera functionality for quality improvements. This new operating system is expected to include satellite connectivity.
One UI 7 further strengthens our focus on device security and data privacy with new tools from Android 15 such as anti-theft and app permissions management.
others
The excitement doesn’t stop here, the Korean phone maker has plans to improve the S Pen’s pressure sensitivity. Meanwhile, new color options using improved titanium materials will also be introduced.
