If you’re looking to get the best VR headset, or you’ve already got a Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S, you’ll want to know how to best use it. We know that finding new VR titles can be difficult. So each month I’ll introduce you to the titles I’ve played.
Since my last talk, three major VR headsets have been released: Meta Quest 3S, Pico 4 Ultra, and HTC Vive Focus Vision. You can read my Meta Quest 3S and Pico 4 Ultra Ultra reviews now. I should have also published a review of the HTC Vive Focus Vision in my next VR roundup.
Next time I’ll be testing a lot more headsets, but I’ve also played a lot of VR games and apps. So I had to omit a few things this time (otherwise this piece would be about a mile long and it’s already pretty big) – Me about about the idea of starship home, Metal: Hellsinger VR, Escape from Wonderlandand exploding kitten Be sure to check back in a few weeks.
For now, let’s dive into two of my favorite VR games, not just of October, but of all time.
Batman: Arkham Shadow
watch on
Meta certainly has a great selection of games to bundle with their headsets. That was the case last year Wrath of Asgard 2, and now it’s great Batman: Arkham ShadowI still can’t believe this is given to new Quest 3 and Quest 3S purchases.
The promise of greatness this game brings arcanverse Translating the game to a standalone Quest headset was a bold move, but developer Camouflaj nailed it. Combat-focused gameplay transitions perfectly into VR with a rhythmic flow similar to a dance. Instead of just swinging your arms as fast as you can, the game tells you to use a combination of straights, hooks, and flurry of blows to disorient your enemies before defeating them. Additionally, you can rely on Batman’s arsenal of classic gadgets. It will help you in a pinch.
There are collectibles behind the puzzles, the story is compelling, and this title is more narrative-focused. arkham It has happened before. Honestly, this is a must play. From my past experience, arkham shadow It feels like it’s not only a contender for VR Game of the Year, but also a contender for Game of the Year.
I have to refrain from praising it because I have some other games and apps that I want to play. Batman: Arkham Shadow Please leave here. However, if you want to read more (spoiler-free) thoughts on the game, check out why I think this is the Meta Quest 3 game everyone has been waiting for.
Vendetta Forever

In other months, arkham shadow While this is definitely my pick for the number one VR title, another best-in-class game has been released. Vendetta Forever. While action-packed, this shooter also includes: pistol whip and super hot – More arcadey and less story-driven, but still one of the most polished games out there.
As you may remember, I tried the demo Vendetta Forever Back in August, its condensed build was quite impressive. The full version is pretty much the same, but the same was exactly what I wanted when the demo was pure excellence.
Each mission is very simple. You’ll have to use a variety of weapons, from pencils to swords, flintlock pistols, and SMGs, to accomplish some objective, whether it’s eliminating all the enemies, rescuing hostages, or simply getting to the exit. As you progress, your score is calculated based on how quickly you complete objectives, how efficiently you dislodge enemies, and how many times you get hit. To advance through the levels you will need to rely on Vendetta Forever‘s unique teleportation style – defeat an enemy and grab the weapon they drop to move to the enemy’s location.
Despite the simple gameplay elements, each mission feels almost completely different from the last, and considering there are over 60 unique levels, it’s no easy task to complete. My favorite is dueling. Punishment is given for dishonorable behavior and quick turnabout. Still, it’s fun to replay multiple times to improve your time and get a higher score, even with just one enemy.
Enemies spawn with slightly different weapons each time, adding an element of randomness to each level that further enhances this sense of freshness. You can learn enemy placements with the aim of completing missions with fast times and S-rank scores, but you’ll have to think on the fly as the pistol you meant to pick up suddenly becomes a one-off tomahawk .
Each level had to be played multiple times in pursuit of the perfect run. Another element of replayability is the hidden VHS tapes that are lost in each mission. In particular, it is very difficult to find if: Vendetta Foreverso finding them can actually feel difficult.
Vendetta Forever is a VR game that everyone needs to play. walkabout mini golf, wrath of asgard 2and still arkham shadow. Again, as stated above, batman, Vendetta Forever is vying for the best game of 2024 in and out of VR, and is an absolute must-play for anyone with a VR headset capable of running it.
Just Dance VR: Welcome to Dancity
watch on
Just Dance VR It brings an amazingly vibrant and energetic dance. just dance The first VR version of the series. This title will launch exclusively on Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest 2 (the last one is especially great for players on previous-gen hardware who are worried about being left behind by new VR games). ).
Unlike other VR rhythm games, just dance It’s not just about striking a certain pose or breaking blocks at the right time. It’s much more focused on teaching fully choreographed routines. That means every move counts (the hand movements that the game actually tracks).
Gameplay is certainly subjective. I found it too permissive, but dance fans and younger players may prefer this more friendly learning environment. But one thing we can all agree on is that the song selection stinks.
Well, there are some decent tracks out there. Hollaback Girl, Don’t Stop Me Nowand Thank you, next – None of today’s biggest pop songs are featured. nevertheless just dance 2025 (released on the exact same day) is equipped with a routine. espresso Written by Sabrina Carpenter ex-boyfriend Written by Tate McRae, lovin’ on me Written by Jack Harlow, Yes, and? Written by Ariana Grande (via DLC).
Without the latest hits, Just Dance VR quickly feels dated, and as a result, it’s hard to recommend it to anyone. The big draw of this series in particular is that it teaches you how to dance to some of the best songs of the moment.
There are things you can enjoy Just Dance VREspecially in a multiplayer environment, where you can play with friends online or via pass and play if you’re in the same room, but it’s far from the best or even the best VR game. just dance A game scheduled to be released this year.
mannequin
watch on
mannequin is an asymmetric VR multiplayer game inspired by Prop Hunt, in which two agents must find and eliminate three hidden aliens, or mannequins. I tried this out in May when it was in Early Access, but I wanted to highlight that it’s now fully launched in the Meta Quest Store.
This is a really fun game, and five players seems like the ideal number to play together with a small group of friends using the Meta Quest headset.
Rather than rehash all my thoughts here, check out my May 2024 roundup of my favorite Meta Quest 3 games and apps to learn more. But TL;DR, Mannquin is worth your time and attention.
Wordle
watch on
That’s correct. Wordle VR is here, but it’s actually a dedicated Quest app that opens Wordle in a flat or curved window, depending on your preference.
As fun as finding the regular version on the NYT website is, and it’s free, it costs nothing to try, but there’s no option to share stats or streaks with the VR version. There’s nothing that makes this leap into VR feel particularly special or worthwhile.
infinite interior
watch on
infinite interior Jumping between these perspectives as you progress, offering a unique blend of mixed reality and virtual reality gameplay. This is one of the titles we used to test Pico 4 Ultra, but it is also playable on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.
I think it’s a lot of fun and a very accessible entry point into VR and MR gaming, but I’d like to do more. infinite interior It’s not a full course meal, it’s just a taste of what an XR game can be like.
Each level begins by examining a kind of virtual puzzle box in a real-world environment. You can connect 3D puzzle pieces to form blocks that plug into various keyholes around the box to find idols that allow you to enter another VR world. Here, you’ll learn more about the silent story of Infinite Inside as you gather the pieces of the puzzle that will help you return to mixed reality.
It’s certainly an interesting approach to XR gaming, and I’d love to see other experiences find ways to iterate on Infinite Inside’s blending of VR and MR. However, Infinite Inside’s challenges are overall simple (most puzzles only have a few pieces) and relatively short in duration (taking about 2-3 hours to complete), making it suitable for everyone. Not a glamorous experience.
