OnePlus released Android 15 to some devices, but not as much as we expected.

The company had previously hinted at an October 24th release date for the OxygenOS 15 wrapper with Android 15.

However, the official launch event on October 24th confirmed that users will have the first opportunity to upgrade through an open beta program rather than a broader stable release.

According to a report by Android Authority, OnePlus 12 and 12R will be the first phones to receive the OxygenOS 15 beta on October 30th. OnePlus Open and OnePlus Pad 2 will receive the update in November, with other models following from December to February. .

It looks like the oldest devices to receive the update (beta) will be the OnePlus 10 series, which was first launched in 2022. Feedback from these beta versions will be used to confirm a stable release date.

New features in OxygenOS 15

Aside from its surprisingly gradual release, OxygenOS 15 brings a slew of new features to OnePlus phones, primarily focused on speeding up the user experience and implementing AI.

The update includes new AI tools for photography and productivity, which could make the OnePlus 12 or the rumored OnePlus 13 join the list of best AI smartphones.

AI Detail Boost sharpens and refines distant or blurry subjects, AI Unblur removes blur, and AI Reflection Eraser removes reflections on both glass and other surfaces. The AI Photo feature is processed in the cloud, so images must be sent from your device to be processed.

The new Productivity AI is powered by Google Gemini and includes AI Notes and AI Writing tools with summarization and transcription capabilities. With this update, Circle to Search also supports OnePlus smartphones.

The AI Reply feature analyzes the content on your screen and creates replies as you message. Compatible apps include WhatsApp, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Additionally, a new intelligent search feature can trawl through your files, apps, and settings to answer common queries.

OxygenOS 15 also enables parallel processing of animations, which OnePlus says will improve the smoothness of the user experience. In this case, parallelism improves the phone’s experience by eliminating the need to finish one animation before starting another.

App icons, quick control shelves, and other UI elements have been slightly updated to give them a more rounded look, and photo elements can now be cropped and used in adaptive lock screen frames.

Other features include a theft detection feature that uses gyroscopes and daily monitoring data to lock down your phone if it appears stolen, and a reduced installation size that frees up gigabytes of usable storage space. This includes functions such as
