OnePlus released the Android 15-based OxygenOS version yesterday. During the launch, OnePlus mocked Samsung’s One UI and compared its animations and system fluency to the newly announced OxygenOS 15 software.
UI trolling over motion smoothness is nothing new, and OxygenOS 15 just adds to that list. Over the past two years, Samsung’s software has come under fire, especially when it comes to software animations, despite having pro-grade hardware.
OnePlus introduced the Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 6.1 in its OxygenOS 15 announcement video. The phone maker included a very short clip (nearly 5 seconds) that confirms the slow response times and animations of Samsung’s software.
Samsung could bring customizable animations to its Galaxy devices next year. One upgrade in UI 7 will allow you to use Pixel and iPhone-like animations on Galaxy devices and adjust them using additional settings.
OnePlus seems to be aware of what’s coming with One UI 7. So I used One UI 6 to show that it is better than OxygenOS 15, at least in terms of animations.
I think the One UI animations should be significantly enhanced, but the unusually fast opening and closing of an app cannot be considered as a measure of animation and motion fluency.
Galaxy users are looking forward to the Android 15 upgrade for their devices. This year, Samsung completely ignored its previous rollout schedule. A beta version will be available later this year, and a stable version is expected to be released in Q1 2025.
The next version will certainly bring welcome changes. I, personallydon’t fall into the animation trap. One UI 7 should be known as the most feature-rich Android 15 skin that will defeat any enemy.
