Apple plans to unveil a number of M4 Macs next week, but one model that won’t be included is the MacBook Air. But a new report says we won’t have to wait long for updates to Apple’s most popular Macs, and the new iPhones expected soon after.
Display shipments typically have a lead time of approximately 3 months before launch
Display analyst Ross Young says in two X subscriber-only posts that displays for the new MacBook Air and iPhone SE will begin shipping soon.
As for the M4 Air, shipments are expected to begin “this month,” he said. That’s right around the corner, as this month is coming to an end.
Meanwhile, iPhone SE 4 panels are scheduled to start shipping in November.
This type of shipment typically occurs approximately three months prior to product launch.
As a result, the new M4 MacBook Air and iPhone SE appear to be on track for an expected launch in early 2025.
Earlier this year, Apple debuted the M3 MacBook Air in early March. The last iPhone SE was also released in the same month, but in 2022.
Both new products could debut in March 2025.
Another interesting tidbit from Young is that the MacBook Air “could” come in 13.3-inch and 15.3-inch sizes. However, I don’t give much weight to that, especially given the “May” qualifier.
Currently, Air displays are 13.6 inches and 15.3 inches, and unless a hardware redesign is planned, it’s unlikely that Apple will just reduce the size of the smaller model.
