National Women’s Small Business Month is celebrated each October to honor all women entrepreneurs and their millions of employees. A local business owner is making a splash in a male-dominated industry and helping other businesses save time and money.
Adriana Lacy knows what it’s like to be always busy. She runs her own consulting business, teaches at Brandeis University, and launched two apps to help small businesses and content creators.
“Many of our clients are very small and definitely don’t have the staff or resources to have a full communications team,” said Adriana Lacey, co-founder and CEO of Adriana Lacey Consulting.
Lacey and her employees, along with a small team surrounding themselves, jumped into the world of AI to get more of what everyone wants: time and money. Her team created two apps. One is called Social Chime and helps with social media management.
“So this app not only allows you to manage your social media profiles, but it also allows you to use AI to create captions, uses AI to help generate images, and really improves your workflow. It can be improved.”
According to Forbes, 4.9 billion people use social media, and businesses are looking for ways to make themselves stand out. Lacey explained how the app works, including using the AI assistant button to write out a post and spit out a caption within seconds. This can drive traffic to your site with minimal time and cost, she said. Another of her apps compiles data from multiple sources and publishes daily reports.
“What I see with a lot of small business owners is that they don’t check their sales and advertising every day, and they might just be losing money and customers because they’re not ahead of the curve. . We can deliver this and them,” Lacey said.
Lacey says AI can help businesses make more informed decisions, but he’s also focused on using AI ethically and double-checking what it spits out. .
“Even if it’s a machine-controlled mechanical output, these outputs are created by humans,” Lacey said. “So, of course, there are always biases built into these models that can disadvantage people.”
As a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, she hopes her impact will break down barriers in the AI field.
“If you look at some of the big AI companies right now, they’re all run by men,” Lacey said. “And I think this is a really great time to have more women in this field really thinking and offering more diverse perspectives.”
Lacey created an app that serves as a lifeline for small businesses that can’t afford social media management tools that cost hundreds of dollars. Her Social Chime and Insight Analytics apps start at $33 per month.
