Apple today released the first iOS 18.2 beta to developers. This is only available on devices that support Apple Intelligence, but there are a number of features that will be available to everyone when the software is eventually released.
In this guide, we’ll introduce you to all the new features found in iOS 18.2 so far.
apple intelligence
iOS 18.2 has a number of new Apple Intelligence features, including Image Playground and Genmoji. It’s a much more enjoyable update than iOS 18.1, thanks to its image generation capabilities. For more information on what’s included, check out our release post. Here is a brief overview.
- image playground – Image Playground app and Messages integration lets you create stylized images based on prompts or images of yourself or your friends.
- image wand – Image wand is for adding images to what you write in the Notes app. On iPad, you can use Apple Pencil to create a rough sketch, then use the Image Wand to refine it.
- source character – Genmoji allows you to create custom emojis. Similar to Image Playground, except the emoji size is smaller. Users with iOS 18.1 can see and get information about Genmojis, but only iOS 18.2 users can create Genmojis. In previous versions of iOS, it appears as an image.
- Siri Chat GPT – Siri can now pass requests to ChatGPT. This is a completely opt-in feature. You don’t need an account, and you can send anything you ask Siri to ChatGPT if you want. ChatGPT has more advanced information than “Siri” and can also generate images and text. If you want to make it easier to hand off requests to ChatGPT, you can toggle off the Ask Every time setting so that Siri doesn’t always need your permission to contact ChatGPT. Siri integrated with ChatGPT supports on-screen responses, so you can ask things like “What’s in this photo?” when viewing images.
- visual intelligence – iPhone 16 uses Visual Intelligence to identify objects and locations around you. Access Visual Intelligence by long-pressing the camera control button, then point your iPhone at something. You can get the time and reviews if the camera is looking at a restaurant, copy text, read text aloud, search for items on Google, and ask ChatGPT about objects.
- writing utensils – Rewrite Writing Tools functionality is no longer limited to three styles. You can describe the tone and content you want, like adding more dynamic language or turning your email into poetry.
- language – In iOS 18.2, Apple Intelligence supports Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, South African, and British English in addition to U.S. English, so if you’re in Canada, you’ll need to set your iPhone to U.S. English to use it. It’s gone. apple intelligence.
