Apple plans to release MacBook Air with M4 chip in early 2025. bloomberg’s Mark Garman reports. The company just revamped its M3 chip lineup this spring, but the M4 update will “probably” be released between January and March 2025, Garman said. Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models will apparently get the M4 update and will have a similar design to the M2 MacBook Air.
The M4-powered MacBook Air could launch in the spring, meaning that product line won’t be included in Apple’s rumored announcements next week. With these updates, Garman said Apple plans to introduce new MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, and iMacs.
However, if you’re waiting for the new Mac Studio, don’t expect it to be released anytime soon. Mac Studio is currently powered by the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, but a version with the M4 is likely to arrive “after the March software release,” meaning between March and June. Garman said there is a possibility that it will appear. Apple also appears to be working on the M4 Mac Pro, but Garman did not provide a timeline for when it would be released.
In the spring, Garman reports that Apple is also aiming to unveil a new iPhone SE, a new iPad Air, an “upgraded” iPad keyboard, and a new entry-level iPad. The company just released the 7th generation iPad Mini and plans to launch the first phase of Apple Intelligence features next week.
