Vote now! The election is close! Candy or caramel apple?

We still ask this question, long after we were kids crawling around our neighborhoods in full costume in the dark on Halloween night. Candy apple? Or caramel apple? Now, to be clear, most of these were delicious items bought at bakeries, general stores, or corner candy stores. But did he really get it as a trick-or-treating item on Halloween night?

For me, the answer is a big yes.

I grew up in a rural village in central New York in the 1950s. We collectively traveled around the neighborhood looking for the best candy stops. Low rating for a single wrapped lifesaver. Thumbs down on pretzel sticks. Even a penny would be very satisfying!! I mean, who did that?

But there was one house we couldn’t wait to arrive at. She was a kind older woman named Delphine Logan. And she stood guard on the doorstep, handing out the best candy apples you’d ever tasted. Big ones too! I can’t imagine how much she made for our special children’s night, but she made so many that we all went home with one. That was the great prize of the night.

Here’s a complete list of where you can get the spectacular red “hard crack” candy apples, or gooey, chewy caramel apples this season. I don’t know if anyone gives these out trick-or-treaters anymore, but they are available all over upstate New York. These are some of the best (just wait until you see these pictures!!)

So how do you vote? Candy apple? caramel? Both are great. Let’s start voting!

Vote now! Candy or caramel? Where do you stand on this topic?

Where’s the best place to eat candy or caramel apples in upstate New York? We’ve got some great options for lovers of both. I can’t imagine how a dentist would vote, but I can see how other people would vote. Candy apples are wonderful. That sharp red “crackling” sound you hear on your first sip. perfection! But wait, caramel apples are out of this world. Have you ever eaten something where the caramel was still a little warm? As they say…OMG! So it’s a tough choice. Here are 18 of the best candy/caramel apple stores in upstate New York. Now, look, wipe the drool off your chin and go pick it up. It’s okay if you consult your dentist later!

Do you know these four upstate New York baseball players? Of course they’re all Hall of Famers!

Every summer, thousands of people flock to the hallowed baseball field in Cooperstown, New York to witness firsthand the inauguration of some of sports’ greatest legends. We know all their names. But within the walls of the Hall of Fame are pages of trivial facts. And they’re fun.

This gallery features four baseball players who are enshrined in Cooperstown but are the only ones buried in upstate New York (roughly referring to the area above and below Manhattan). Do you know their names?

Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and other baseball legends are buried in Lower New York, near New York City. These four people are buried in our area and their graves are easily accessible to the public.

And their stories are amazing!
