Following the release of the iPhone 16 family, the Apple community is preparing to welcome the first M4-powered MacBook Pro laptops. The latest reports say you won’t have to wait that long.
Bloomberg’s Mark Garman says the launch of new macOS hardware is imminent, with both online videos and hands-on experiences at Apple headquarters coming soon. Apple tends to hold product launches on Tuesdays. In past years, I’ve used Halloween as a prop to hang my new digital coat.
This indicates that next Tuesday, October 29th, is an important date.
Apple’s AI focus
These laptops will be the first to feature the latest Apple Silicon chipsets. It’s not a debut — Tim Cook and his team decided to launch the M4 with the new iPad Pro in May. Nevertheless, this will be the first time professional macOS users will be able to get their hands on the latest Apple Silicon.
The M4 chipset comes with hardware that supports generative AI. Cook has consistently put the awkwardly backonymous Apple Intelligence suite of AI tools at the center of his iPhone marketing campaigns, and is expected to continue the same story for his new Macbook Pro laptop. There is. This is a risky choice, given that only a small portion of Apple Intelligence tools will make up the first wave of AI tools to be released in November.
MacBook Pro laptops will be Apple Intelligence enabled. Apple Intelligence just isn’t ready yet.
Consumers miss out on MacBook Air
MacBook Air will also not be released. Consumer-grade macOS laptops aren’t expected to launch until March 2025 (as a side note, March is quickly becoming a big time for Apple. The final apps in the Apple Intelligence suite will be updated (scheduled for release later in the first quarter, similar to the iPhone SE).
Until then, those who want to buy a new MacBook right away will have to choose the more expensive M4 MacBook Pro model or buy the older M3 MacBook Air.
