CAE Introduces New Pilot Training Solution for Apple Vision Pro

Canadian Aviation Electronics (CAE), a specialist in flight simulation and training technology, announced Tuesday that it is working on a new app that uses specialized computing from Apple Vision Pro to train pilots.

CAE is working on developing a professional pilot training app for Vision Pro

CAE said in a blog post that it is the first to develop an immersive pilot training app for Apple Vision Pro. The app was demonstrated at NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas and could be a “game changer” in pilot training. The tool, which is still in its final stages of development, brings “real-world precision” to flight deck interactions.

There is an “exploration mode” where the pilot can touch the controls and see instructions for each one, and a “guide mode” which guides the pilot to learn the steps of the aircraft. There is also a free mode that pilots can use to simulate any kind of interaction with flight controls.

CAE believes this app is revolutionary as it allows pilots to complete their training remotely from anywhere, without having to constantly visit a training center to use professional simulators.

“This Apple Vision Pro app developed by CAE allows pilots to familiarize themselves with the flight deck, practice critical procedures, and develop muscle memory for key functions from anywhere,” said CAE’s top technology product. Director Emmanuel Levitt said. “This allows pilots to engage with a realistic flight deck environment, further preparing them for full flight simulator sessions and making them even better prepared for any situation.”

The app is currently being tested in the Bombardier Global 7500 program and is expected to launch in spring 2025, according to CAE. Support for more aircraft will be added in the future.
