The iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini will all be equipped with the M4 chip later this month in an online-focused event.
Apple recently announced the 7th generation iPad mini through a simple press release, and the new Mac computer will reportedly be announced through an online event in late October.
In a social media post on the thread, bloomberg Reporter Mark Garman said the Apple Store currently has a “very low inventory” of Macs and Mac-related products. This includes the iMac, MacBook Pro, Mac mini units, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad.
According to the post, the iMac and MacBook Pro are expected to be equipped with the Apple M4 chip, which is currently only found in the iPad Pro. The Mac Mini, on the other hand, will undergo a “complete overhaul,” which falls in line with previous rumors that the device would come in a smaller form factor and feature a different port selection.
“I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that Apple would gather the press and hold a full-scale iPhone-like event at its headquarters,” Garman said. “Instead, we expect the announcement to be focused online, with the press having a chance to experience it in person, and not be that different from last year’s Scary Fast.”
This will be in line with Apple’s previous events, including the May 2024 online iPad event where redesigned iPad Pro and iPad Air models were announced.
This event, like the October 2023 Scary Fast event, had no in-person element and was streamed online through Apple’s website. Selected members of the press had the opportunity to experience it first-hand in London and New York.
Garman previously said he expected new Mac computers with the M4 chip to be released on November 1, 2024, following a rumored October event.
