like clockwork, Qualcomm is getting serious with a new high-end smartphone chip that will be found in almost every top-of-the-line Android device released this year, but things are a little different this year.
First, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is equipped with the chipmaker’s Oryon CPU, a technology that first appeared in the company’s X Elite laptop chips last year. Other key information includes a 3nm process node, a step up from last year’s 4nm node, delivering 45% faster single and multi-core performance while using 27% less power than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 can.

As you might have guessed, Qualcomm has significantly boosted the AI capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Elite by including a 45% faster NPU (Neural Processing Unit). Qualcomm says the chip will also improve gaming performance by 40%. For more details on the Snapdragon 8 Elite specs, check out the infographic above.
The chip is likely to be featured in notable flagship smartphones such as Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra (at least in North America), perhaps one plus 13will be revealed soon.
