Apple announced the new iPad mini in a press release last week, but the company still has bigger plans to introduce new Macs this month. As inventory at the Apple Store is running low, updates to MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, etc. are expected.
According to bloomberg’s Mark Garman says Apple won’t hold a “full-fledged iPhone-like event” for new Macs. Instead, Garman expects the launch to be “online-focused,” while still providing hands-on opportunities for journalists.
Gourman says:
Latest Mac news: iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad are critically low in stock at Apple retail stores. I’m still hoping for an impending M4 upgrade for the iMac and MacBook Pro, as well as a complete overhaul of the Mac mini.
I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that Apple will gather the press and hold a full-scale iPhone-like event at its headquarters. Instead, I expect the announcement to be focused online and have a chance for the press to experience it in person, not too different from last year’s Scary Fast.
This description is consistent with other recent announcements from Apple, including the May 2023 iPad event “Let Loose” and the October 2023 Mac event “Scary Fast.” In both cases, Apple Park had no in-person elements. Instead, the event was streamed online for everyone to watch, and members of the press were invited to smaller gatherings in cities such as New York City and London.
Last October, Apple announced a “Scary Fast” event on October 24th, and the event was held on October 30th. This suggests we could see an Apple event announcement for the M4 Mac as early as tomorrow. Gurman previously reported that the M4 Mac could be released on November 1st.
