Apple’s next-generation entry-level iPad will support Apple Intelligence features when it launches in late 2025. bloomberg newsMark Garman reports.
Tim Hardwick of MacRumors:
Garman said the iPhone SE will have Apple Intelligence capabilities in March 2025, and the entry-level iPad will also come “later this year.” Garman also suggested that by 2026, nearly all Apple devices with screens will support Apple Intelligence.
The timeline shows a significant gap from the last update for the entry-level iPad in October 2022. The update delay can be attributed to the technical requirements for implementing AI features on the budget-friendly $349 device.
The current 10th generation iPad is powered by the A14 chip, which was first used in the iPhone 12 lineup, but it’s becoming obsolete. The logical choice for the next iPad is the A16, which was used in the iPhone 15 models, but if Apple wants to make Apple Intelligence as accessible as possible, it will need an A17 Pro chip or an A18 chip. Possibly.
Mac Daily News opinion: Support for Apple Intelligence is coming to every device possible, with the Apple Watch using the hardware of a paired iPhone to get AI features like notification summaries, which are extremely useful when worn on the wrist. also applies.
