According to the results for the third quarter of 2024, the analytical portal Canalys has published results regarding the smartphone market. Samsung and Apple continue to lead the way, with both companies achieving 18% market share, with Samsung slightly ahead. During this period, Samsung released new models of high-end smartphones, and Apple announced the iPhone 16 series. The iPhone 16 series went on sale at the end of September, but it has not yet affected the power balance. However, experts note that Apple is moving closer to becoming the smartphone market leader, and the position ratio could change in the fourth quarter when iPhone 16 sales begin.
In third place is Xiaomi with a 14% share and sales are increasing significantly. The company has no intention of stopping and is actively preparing to further strengthen its position. Recently, it introduced Redmi Note 14 series for the Chinese market and Xiaomi 14T for the European market. The launch of Xiaomi 15 is expected soon, which will help the Chinese giant compete with Western manufacturers.
In fourth and fifth place are OPPO and VIVO, each with a 9% share. These companies focus on producing affordable mid-range smartphones with modern designs and great features.
Canalys analysts also point out that consumer interest in mid-range devices is also trending lower amid the popularity of premium smartphones with improved AI features and cameras. This is in Apple’s hands, and Apple is further strengthening its market position.
