- Samsung is expected to announce the long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE at a launch event tomorrow.
- The leaker claims that the device will feature a 200MP camera and offer better image quality than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Samsung is scheduled to hold a launch event tomorrow, where it is likely to announce the long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. The company hasn’t confirmed any details about its upcoming devices, but the event announcement said it would launch “a new Galaxy with even more innovation.” This innovation could be the device’s rumored slimmer form factor or, as new leaks suggest, a major camera upgrade.
So far, Samsung hasn’t equipped its foldable phones with the same top-of-the-line camera hardware that it offers in its Galaxy S series flagships. Even the latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 can’t match the image processing power of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, reputed tipster Ice Universe claimed that Samsung could address this issue in its next model and include a 200MP primary camera that offers “better image quality than the S24 Ultra.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that Samsung might offer a 200MP sensor on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE. Reliable leaker Evan Blass first shared this information several months ago. At the time, it wasn’t clear whether Samsung would equip this device with the same 200MP Isocell HP2 sensor as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, or opt for the slightly smaller and less impressive 200MP Isocell HP9 sensor due to space constraints.
Considering the new claims, it looks like Samsung isn’t holding back and plans to offer a top-level 200MP sensor on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE. The exact specifications of the camera are not known at this time, but the launch event is just a few hours away, so we won’t have to wait long to know all the important details.
In addition to camera upgrades, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE tends to be thinner than the standard Z Fold 6. It is also said to have a larger screen, less wrinkles on the foldable screen, and support for the S Pen. Unfortunately, it looks like Samsung has no plans to release this device globally. According to reports, this foldable model may only arrive in limited quantities for the Chinese and Korean markets.
