Police say multiple suspects stole a Mercedes from a driveway in Dover, but the car’s owner watched in real time as it drove toward Somerville.
A Dover man whose car was allegedly stolen from his driveway early Thursday was able to help police recover it thanks to a tracking app.
Dover police responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from a residence around 3 a.m., Boston 25 News reported.
Police attempted to stop a Mercedes car as it entered the highway towards Needham, but the driver accelerated to dangerous speeds and the officers backed away.
The report said the vehicle owner was able to use tracking software to monitor the vehicle heading to Somerville in real time. Police recovered the vehicle and brought it in for processing.
Investigators said multiple suspects were involved in the theft, but no arrests have been announced. Investigation is ongoing.
