Whispers about Samsung’s upcoming A-series budget phone entry surface with changes that will cause flashbacks.
In collaboration with X tipster OnLeaks, Giznext posted alleged information about the upcoming Galaxy A36 5G. Leaked renders of the device suggest it may still feature smooth, flat sides with rounded corners and a “relatively thin” body. However, the most significant change concerns the back panel. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy A36 5G could bring back the classic camera array.
The renders show that the device may feature three vertical camera arrays inside a housing with a raised border. it seemed familiar to us and X users said the design was reminiscent of 2019’s Galaxy Note 10.
Images suggest three cameras, but sensor details are unclear.
The front of the device looks relatively similar to its upcoming predecessor. According to the magazine, the Galaxy A36 5G will feature a 6.6-inch flat display with “thin bezels” and a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the display chin does not. too bigit gets your attention. A punch-hole selfie camera in the center completes the relatively tame front look.
Other specifications are still in the speculation stage. However, the post states that the A36 5G may come with Adreno 610 GPU. Additionally, Samsung is likely to power the phone with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. The latter will debut in late 2023 and is built on a 4nm process that promises “significant” camera performance improvements for mid-range phones.
A potential release date is still up in the air, at least for overseas markets. The publication claims an India launch is “imminent” but makes no mention of the US.
The design of the rumored Galaxy A36 5G is similar to the A35 5G. The device sports a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with thin bezels and the same (slightly) prominent chin. The phone also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Current rumors suggest a similar trend, at least when it comes to the A36 5G’s RAM.
Meanwhile, rumors about a possible launch mirror what Samsung has done with the A35. After its debut overseas, U.S. consumers had to wait for the device’s release. In the end, Samsung decided to launch the product in the United States a month later. The A36 5G is rumored to be launching in India “soon,” so perhaps the Korean OEM will give people in the US another late launch date.
Device features are always a hot topic, but recent rumors haven’t mentioned the Galaxy A36 5G. But given Samsung’s new focus on research and development, it makes sense to expect some level of Galaxy AI.
