TL;DR
- Samsung announced the release date for its new Galaxy products on October 21st.
- The accompanying teaser video shows that this will be a Fold-style device.
- This is expected to be the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition.
We expected the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition to launch sometime this month, but the South Korean brand has actually announced the release date for what appears to be a new foldable phone.
Samsung announced on its Korean website that a “new Galaxy with even more innovation” will be unveiled on October 21st. The company also posted a teaser video on YouTube showing the foldable device in an envelope. Check out the clip below and the screenshot at the top of the page.
The company didn’t reveal any further details, but it’s clear that we should expect the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition to be announced on the same day. The device is expected to be thinner than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6, with leaks suggesting it will be 10.6mm thick when folded. The teaser clip hints at this change by showing someone slipping an envelope containing a foldable envelope under the door.
There is no shortage of other leaks. The phone is expected to offer a 6.5-inch outer display and an 8-inch foldable screen, with both panels being slightly larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s screen. We’ve also heard murmurs about a less noticeable display crease, a 200MP main camera, and S Pen support.
Want to get your hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition? Unfortunately, the foldable smartphone is thought to be limited to South Korea and China.
