Google is known for shutting down services, and once they go down, they rarely come back. Last year, Google discontinued its YouTube Premium Lite plan after limited testing in a few countries without expanding to the US. However, it looks like the fan-favorite plan may be making a comeback, as Google has reportedly resumed testing YouTube Premium Lite in some regions.

Google confirmed to Android Authority that it is testing “different versions” of YouTube Premium Lite in Australia, Germany, and Thailand. Several countries are testing new YouTube Premium Lite plans
For those unfamiliar, YouTube Premium Lite is a scaled-down version of the full Premium subscription. It just removes ads from your videos and doesn’t include other benefits like access to YouTube Music, offline downloads, or background playback. This new version may introduce “limited ads” rather than eliminating ads completely.
Until Google discontinued YouTube Premium Lite, it was popular among users because it eliminated the most annoying part of YouTube, the ads, for nearly half the price of a full subscription. It appears that Google is currently testing two different versions of its Premium Lite plan in Australia (via 9to5Google ). Some users see the plan costing AU$11.99 per month, about half the standard price of AU$22.99, while others see the plan as low as AU$8.99 per month. .

It’s still unclear whether the new YouTube Premium Lite plan will eventually launch in the US or be fully rolled out in the countries where it’s currently being tested. However, we hope Google does the same this time around. Although the company has gradually rolled out some premium features to free users, the cost of a full YouTube Premium subscription continues to rise in many regions.
With more affordable options like Premium Lite, you may be able to enjoy an ad-free experience on YouTube for less without all the bells and whistles.
