There’s no doubt that Samsung makes some of the best foldable devices on the market, but in recent years its hardware has lagged behind its competitors. Devices like the Honor Magic V3, OnePlus Open, and even the Pixel 9 Pro Fold surpass Samsung in terms of hardware and design. But Samsung isn’t lagging behind. The company has been quietly working on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition for a while now, and it looks like the company has finally set a release date for the long-awaited foldable model.

7 new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 upgrades you won’t find on other Folds
More than just improved specs?
According to a report from South Korean publication FNNews, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition could be announced as early as October 25th. Interestingly, the report does not include the number “6” and calls it the “Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.” This is not the first time this naming has been discussed. Previous reports suggested the device could be called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. However, Samsung seems to have finally decided on the device’s official name as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition could include major upgrades to Galaxy Z Fold 6
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is expected to introduce several upgrades compared to the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6. Design-wise, the new model is expected to feature a wider cover and inner display, combined with a significantly thinner chassis than the current generation. Samsung is also reportedly addressing the crease issue with this special edition while including support for the S Pen, which was previously rumored to be excluded.
In addition to design tweaks, the Z Fold Special Edition is said to feature a 200MP main camera and an improved under-display camera for the internal display. These upgrades seem to be a direct response to increased competition from brands like Honor, OPPO, and Vivo in the Asian market.
Samsung will reportedly price this special edition at a hefty $2,200, making it one of the most expensive foldable models on the market. However, the main concern at the moment seems to be the foldable’s availability, not its price. The Z Fold Special Edition will reportedly only be available in China and South Korea, with no plans for a global release at this time.
If you are outside of these regions, you may need to import your device to get it. But the good news is you won’t have to wait long to see it in action, as the launch is expected to happen as early as next week.
