Apple has been testing iOS 18.1 for about the same amount of time as iOS 18. The reason for this long beta is due to the company’s upcoming Apple Intelligence platform, which is scheduled to be released later this month along with iOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, and iOS 18.1. iPadOS 18.1, new iPhone, Mac, and iPad models.
So far, there are two possible release dates for iOS 18.1. One of them may have been suggested by Apple and the other one is from a reliable source.
The first possible iOS 18.1 release date is October 23rd. Today, the company will begin selling a new iPad mini equipped with the A17 Pro chip. Apple is teasing the availability of Apple Intelligence, so this could mean the company is gearing up for a release of this software next Wednesday. However, this could be the same marketing strategy, as Cupertino has been teasing Apple Intelligence about the new iPhone 16 model, even though it hasn’t launched yet.
That said, the second and most likely release date for iOS 18.1 is October 28th. bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release iOS 18.1 within two weeks from now. The company is expected to start selling the new M4 Mac in a few days, but we’re still waiting for an event announcement or new press release from Apple.
BGR The beta cycle also supports Garman’s report. iOS 18.1 is currently the 7th testing version. To release iOS 18.1 on October 23rd, Cupertino would need to seed a release candidate version within a few days, but that seems unlikely. Although the RC version will only be available for one day, it’s safe to assume that this build will take several days of development before Apple finally releases iOS 18.1 to the public.
However, it is important to note that even though iOS 18.1 is available, the Apple Intelligence platform remains in beta. This means Apple can say that any issues are part of the testing experience that the user consented to.
We’ll let you know when we receive confirmation from Apple about the iOS 18.1 release date.
