Apple announced the latest version of the iPad Mini through a press release in the most disrespectful way, considering it’s the first upgrade to the company’s smallest tablet since 2021.
The new iPad Mini is available for pre-order. Priced at $499, it will go on sale next Wednesday, the 23rd.
About the new iPad Mini with A17 Pro chip
The new iPad Mini mainly has improved specs. The only real design change is the new colors, and while they’re not as eye-popping as the iPhone 16, the new purple and blue colors look decent.
However, the last-generation iPad Mini received a major overhaul with a new design, USB-C port, and upgraded hardware. This makes sense, since it’s the first design upgrade since the original iPad Mini in 2012.
So it’s not really surprising that the new Mini looks like the last model. But the spec improvements are real and aimed at keeping up with Apple intelligence.
The new iPad Mini is powered by the new A127 Pro chip, which according to a press release has a 30 percent faster CPU, 25 percent faster GPU, and twice faster Neural Engine than previous models.
Apple’s new mini tablet can run hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which will definitely make demanding games look better.
The device also supports the new Apple Pencil Pro and has a faster Wi-Fi 6E chip and USB-C port. The new iPad Mini is basically the same as before, but it’s significantly faster.
New iPad Mini: Pricing and availability
Apple has updated the rest of its iPad lineup this year. The company added powerful M4 silicon to the iPad Air, redesigned the iPad Pro, and lowered the price of the base model to $349.
The iPad Mini was the last remaining piece of the puzzle, and it’s now available in the same avatar with enhanced hardware for $499. It comes with 128GB of internal storage, which is double the storage of the previous generation at the same price.
Pre-orders begin today, October 15th, with shipping and in-store sales beginning next Wednesday, October 23rd.
