How to unsend an iMessage

Have you ever sent an iMessage and immediately thought twice?Let’s be honest, we’ve all been there. But all is not lost!

As long as you take action at the right time and have an iPhone running iOS 16 or later, you can remove that pesky message in just a few steps.

Below, we will explain how to unsend an iMessage on iPhone. There is one caveat. It only takes 2 minutes to do this. So, if you are in a hurry, please read it!

What if the person I message doesn’t use iOS 16 or an iPhone at all?

The original message remains, and recipients are notified that they may still see the message. When you edit a message, the other person receives a follow-up message that says “edited to” followed by the edited message in quotation marks.

Can I unsend an iMessage in a group text if everyone isn’t using an iPhone?

No, but the editing features will work if at least one member of the group uses iMessage.
