With the Western Conference postseason field settled and the Eastern Conference’s top seven spots already decided, these four teams will battle it out on Saturday to make their playoff dreams a reality.
If you want to know all the nitty-gritty scenarios of the playoff game, go here. But to summarize, if either DC United or CF Montreal get at least one point this weekend, both teams will advance to the postseason. If one or both of these teams falter, Philadelphia and Atlanta will open the door with wins and support.
So who will actually finish above the line when things settle down on Saturday? I’m sticking with two teams in the playoff field starting the weekend: DC and Montreal.
The current Top 9 is at the top due to the existing three point leads over Philadelphia and Atlanta, the fact that both teams are playing at home, and the fact that both teams are easier opponents than the Union and Five Stripes. It looks like it will remain at 9.
Consider DC getting results against Charlotte, Montreal against New York City, Philadelphia beating Cincinnati, and Atlanta beating Orlando on the road (and getting a decent bounce in other games).
