October 2024 security updates are rolling out to the Galaxy S22 series. The first release is for Exynos-powered Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra sold in Europe. It shouldn’t be long before this update starts rolling out to Snapdragon-powered versions sold in other parts of the world.
Updates can be identified by build number S90xBXXSCEXI4. Can be downloaded wirelessly from your mobile phone Settings » Software Update menu. The latest firmware is also available on SamMobile.
October 2024 update fixes over 40 security vulnerabilities
The only October 2024 security patch included in the new Galaxy S22 series update addresses 42 security vulnerabilities. Thirty of the vulnerabilities are common to all Android devices, while 12 only affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Security flaws in devices with some Exynos chips have also been fixed, but the Exynos 2200 within the Galaxy S22 series is not affected.
In case you missed it, we’re only releasing security updates for Samsung phones and tablets for the rest of this year. While some markets will have a beta program this year that will allow users to test Android 15 and One UI 7.0, Samsung has postponed the official release of the next major upgrade to Android and One UI to 2025. The Galaxy S25 series will be its first version. Stable version of One UI 7.0.
