Booker said city data shows more than 56% of users of online library accounts accessed the service on a mobile device.
The new app allows residents to log in using their library card number and PIN. You will then be able to search, hold, and manage your account. Booker said patrons can also use the app’s digital library card to check out physical or digital books and materials.
“Even if you don’t have a library card, this app can help,” she said. “You can see what we have to offer, the library’s location, a map to its location, opening hours and contact information.”
Looking to the future
The app is available on the Apple App Store, but for Android users, it is not available on the Google Play Store. However, Booker said the city is working on optimizing the Android version for future releases.
Officials are also working to improve the app’s mapping feature, which directs residents to city annexes, for Apple Maps users.
Once fully launched, the app will support multiple library cards, push notifications, linked accounts that allow for social media links, and provide the city with usage metrics and analytics, Booker said. . The app also works with the city’s event calendar and accommodation reservation system.
