There are about five months left until Apple announces the next version of the iPhone SE, and we’re starting to have a solid idea of what to expect. Rumors have been spreading wildly since the iPhone 16 launched last month, but this weekend’s leak of a new case appears to have revealed the basics of the new phone’s design.
On Saturday, popular leaker Sonny Dixon posted a photo on Twitter/X of what he called a case for the (yet-unannounced) iPhone SE 4. It resembles the standard silicone case design that Apple makes for its phones, and is solid in color.
If the case is authentic and based on the final design of the iPhone SE 4, rather than a prototype that may change before launch, several important details will be revealed. For example, there is a cutout for the mute switch. This means the handset. No action button. (The official silicone case for iPhone 16 Plus does not have a cutout. Just press the action button through the raised part of the silicone.)
It’s not so clear, but the photo suggests the following SE does not get camera control It was introduced last month with the 16 series iPhones. Granted, the 16 Plus case doesn’t have a full cutout for the camera controls, but it does have another thin section above it that you squeeze through. This will probably be noticeable in photos.
Finally, as 9to5Mac points out, the rear camera notch faces: single lensas will be the case in 2022, rather than twin lenses in line with the iPhone 14, where the new SE is expected to be based. It may seem counterintuitive – the cutout teeth It’s larger than a single lens and could potentially accommodate a pair of lenses horizontally, but that’s how the case for the 2022 iPhone SE is currently made, with a flash next to a single lens. It has an opening. The iPhone 14, on the other hand, has a larger square camera module with twin lenses placed diagonally, and this case design doesn’t accommodate that.
There are also many negative points. There are no camera controls, no action button, and no second rear camera lens. But there’s still time to change plans, and Apple might surprise us in the spring.
