There are very few shows still operating in the pre-streaming era that release new seasons every year. To be frank, one is The Bear on Hulu and the other is Slow Horses on Apple TV+. And that trend seems to be continuing.
Slow Horses just had its Season 4 finale last week, and while it was certainly as good as all previous seasons, there’s news that production on Season 5 has already wrapped. yes, Finished Production at a time when many shows don’t start production for months after they end.
What this means for the Slow Horses season 5 release date is that it will likely be pretty much the same as what we’ve seen over the previous four seasons. Identify patterns.

- Slow Horse Season 2 – December 2022
- Slow Horse Season 3 – November 2023
- Slow Horses Season 4 – September 2024
Just…wild. That won’t happen. There were eight months between season 1 and season 2. There were 11 months between seasons 2 and 3, and 10 months between seasons 3 and 4. And if production is already complete, then yes, this should probably be within a year. If we take 10 months as the average upper limit, it would be August 2025. That’s five seasons worth of shows in just over three years. That’s strange.

And the show is great! Slow Horses has consistently been hailed as one of the best series on television, with its current four seasons receiving an overall critic score of 98%, audience score of 90%, and an Emmy Award for Best Drama. It has been nominated for an award and will probably win one of the seasons. Days here.
This show is easily one of the best spy series we’ve ever seen on TV, and it airs so frequently that you can watch it without the unusually long waits we’re used to. It always feels like you can keep going. Boasting great talent like Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jack Lowden, it’s a hilarious, thrilling production that’s easy to recommend to basically anyone. The biggest problem may be that Apple has some of the best series on all of TV, including this one, and it’s on Apple TV+. Apple TV+ is just one part of a streaming space dominated by larger, and perhaps worse, services.
So we’ll probably only have to wait 10-11 months for Slow Horses season 5, and then season 6 won’t be that long.
