Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ review: Samsung’s best mid-range tablet ever
Excellent build quality, battery life, and software make for a solid mid-range tablet
Why Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ should be your next tablet
The 12.4-inch display is TFT rather than OLED, but it’s still nice and vibrant. With a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a refresh rate of 90Hz, it’s smooth and responsive whether you use your finger or the included S Pen. The stylus is deeply integrated into One UI, so you can quickly annotate screenshots and create sticky notes. The pen also magnetically sticks to your tablet for easy storage. When it comes to One UI, it makes good use of the larger display with features like multi-window and split screen. We also like that the FE+ is IP68 rated, offers plenty of protection from water and dust, and has nearly 20 hours of battery life.
As with most mid-range or budget tablets, there are some concessions. The first thing to note is its weight. While a larger display of 12 inches or more might look appealing, you’ll be leaning towards a larger tablet size. It’s not unwieldy, but it weighs nearly 1.5 pounds for its size, so be careful. The camera is also on the mediocre side, and we found the fingerprint sensor to be a little awkwardly placed. But perhaps the most notable compromise is in performance. While the Exynos 1380 processor isn’t slow by any means, we found it lacked the oomph we’d expect from a device of this caliber.
To be clear, we think the positives far outweigh the negatives here. In fact, we included the Tab S9 FE+ in our buyer’s guide to the best Android tablets, saying it’s a great option for those looking for a stylus model on a budget. We found it useful for everything from streaming shows to playing games like Asphalt Legends. Definitely a bargain at today’s discounted price.
