Rumors have been flying around about the new iPad Mini for over a year, but most indicators point to improved processors and little else. But we haven’t heard much about the new entry-level iPad. That makes it a great time to pick up a 9th or 10th generation model. Both models are currently on sale at their highest prices ever. Due to Amazon’s October Prime Day sale.
You can currently buy Apple’s last-generation iPad with Wi-Fi and 64 GB of storage starting at $199 ($130 off) at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. Meanwhile, the 10th generation model is available from the same three retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, and Target) starting at $299 ($50 off) for the same configuration. You can also purchase models with 256GB of storage for $349.99 ($130 off) and $449 ($50 off), respectively.
Both entry-level tablets are good for streaming, browsing the web, and sending emails, but the new model has a slightly larger 10.9-inch screen and a faster processor in the form of Apple’s A14 Bionic. . It also features a USB-C port instead of Apple’s Lightning connector (hmm) and borrows some of the more expensive iPad Air’s modern design language, resulting in smaller bezels and a new Touch ID on the power button. A fingerprint scanner is implemented.
Considering the new specs and current asking price, I would argue that the 10th generation iPad is a better buy. However, the 9th generation model is still great for kids and people who want a basic tablet at an affordable price. Lo and behold, it also offers a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is a blessing in 2024.
