Welcome to the Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we introduce you to the latest apps from the indie app world. If you are a developer and would like your app featured, please contact us.

Long Ago is a uniquely designed iPhone and iPad app that aims to help users track habits, medications, routines, or things they want to do more often. This app aims to help users establish a routine and start doing things more regularly.

Main features

It is intended to be a self-discipline app that allows users to stay on top of what is happening in their daily lives. For example, you can update the app every time you do laundry. From that point on, the elapsed time will be counted and you can also set a reminder if you can’t remember.

It also has a number of other features to help you keep track of things.

  • Interactive widgets let you track things from your home screen
  • Shortcut support allows you to automate logging
  • Sync between devices via iCloud
  • focus filter. You can group tasks and sort what’s important at a particular moment.
  • JSON import/export support. The data is owned by you and can be used within other apps
  • Lots of customization features to customize clock, theme, colors and icons

personal highlights

I’m a big fan of the app’s design. It feels smooth, has great tactile sensations throughout, and feels like a unique design while still having an overall native feel. The flip clock is also a really nice touch as is the variety of colors.

The app also provides numerous statistics within the app that show how often you complete certain tasks, chores, etc. For example, if you need to take a certain medication every day, the app will show you on a graph whether you missed a dose for the day. .

I also appreciate the support for shortcuts. If one of your tasks is associated with a calendar invite, you can automatically mark it complete. Interactive widgets also make tracking from your home screen easy.

Download the app

Long Ago is available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. Also available as an iPad app on Mac and Apple Vision Pro. For $9.99 per year or $24.99 for life, you can unlock Long Ago Premium, which provides unlimited tracking activity and custom app icons.
