The iPhone 16 Pro has a lot of good features, but there’s one thing it lacks in personality. And the phone’s new transparent module showed how interesting it would be if Apple released a handbrake with that design.
Creating transparent versions of Apple’s latest phones is something of an annual tradition for the Phone Repair Guru YouTube channel, but this year might be the best yet.
This see-through mod naturally has echoes of the Nothing Phone 2, but as the channel points out, the iPhone 16 Pro features “some of the most impressive internals we’ve ever seen in an iPhone.”ため、特に見栄えがよくなります。
Naturally, you can’t buy a transparent 16 Pro, as the modification technique is quite complex and the process voids the warranty. As you can see in the full video below, after stripping the various components from the back plate, there is the non-negligible task of removing the recycled aluminum finish.
That’s where the gallium comes in. It looks like a Terminator T-1000-like metal with a low melting point that can eat through breakfast aluminum. So Channel applied it to the iPhone 16 Pro, and the aluminum (eventually) peeled off like paper, leaving the remaining paint to be cleaned and removed to create a transparent backplate.
All are very “don’t try at home” things, but with impressive results featuring a metal battery, a copper-colored wireless charger, and a labeled taptic engine, we now have an iMac Now I want a G3 style iPhone.
iMac G3 reverberations

Even though Apple developed a similar translucent look with the iMac G3 in 1998, the chances of Apple releasing a transparent iPhone Pro are slim to none. Still, that’s all we really want from the Pro Series. Get some of the bolder colors found on the base iPhone 16 series.
In a recent WhatsApp survey asking users which iPhone 16 model they were planning to buy, the base iPhone 16 model received much higher engagement, with ultramarine hues outperforming teal and black.
Despite the arrival of the “Desert Titanium” shade on the iPhone 16 Pro series this year, the color is otherwise very dull. While this certainly makes it more business-friendly, there are definitely plenty of Pro buyers out there who simply want the fun colors in addition to bonus features like the flagship model’s 5x optical zoom.
There are some early signs that Apple may be holding back on bolder colors as part of its upgrade strategy for next year’s iPhone 17 Pro series, with leakers suggesting shades of teal titanium, green titanium, or dark green titanium. suggests it may be in the pipeline for 2025.
We’ll take that speculation with a heavy grain of salt, but even if Apple were to leave a transparent product to modders, it would definitely be an improvement.
