introduction
Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 FE just a year after the Galaxy S23 FE. It was exactly what we expected, but with a twist. This is a proper spin-off of the Galaxy S24+, rather than the reworked Galaxy S24 version with a slightly larger body.
The Galaxy S24 FE is very similar to the S24+ in both size and feel. It has two Gorilla Glass panels, a flat metal frame, and three separate camera rings on the back. It also has IP68 class dustproof and waterproof performance.
This year, Samsung matched the screen size of the Galaxy S24 FE to that of the Galaxy S24+. This means you get a 6.7-inch OLED. However, it is not the same LTPO panel as the Plus model. That’s how you deal with the first difference. The S24 FE features a 1080p OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
The Galaxy S24 FE is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400e chip, which has the same 10-core CPU and Xclipse 920 GPU as the Exynos 2400 inside the Galaxy S24+, but with slightly lower clocks. RAM is limited to 8GB, which isn’t ideal but is sufficient for most uses, including AI.
The camera is where we encounter the next obvious difference. On the back, there are three cams with the same 50MP OIS primary as the S24+. However, here we have the more basic telephoto (8MP, 3x) and ultra-wide (12MP, FF). The selfie camera is the familiar 10MP from previous generation Galaxy S phones.
The Galaxy S24 FE is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery that supports up to 25W wired charging and up to 15W wireless charging. It also supports reverse wireless charging.
Compared to the Galaxy S23 FE, the new model only has a few updates: a slightly larger display and a new chipset. That being said, I doubt if the S24 FE would be considered as an upgrade option.

At first glance, there are no obvious omissions in the Galaxy S24 FE, but in any case we cannot evaluate the virtual proximity sensor that is not present in smartphones like flagships. It has long been unwelcome on Samsung phones, and no matter how good the manufacturer programs it, it cannot be as accurate as the real thing.
I remember when FE stood for Fan Edition and offered fan-favorite features like a microSD option and an audio jack, but that’s no longer the case.
Unboxing the Galaxy S24 FE
The Galaxy S24 FE’s thin black box matches the size and style of the Galaxy S24+. Inside you’ll find the phone, a black USB-C cable, and a SIM eject tool.
There is no charger included in the box. The S24 FE can charge at up to 25W (instead of 45W) and also has wireless charging.
