intro

To be honest, Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tab S10 Plus is a tablet that doesn’t offer many great features compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus.

Featuring the same design, specs, and value proposition as the old slate, the only major difference is the new tablet’s obvious AI chops.

However, the older one can fully perform the same Galaxy AI features. galaxy tab s10 plus?

New MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ Snapdragon 8 2nd generation
Slightly thinner (5.6mm) and lighter (571gr) Slightly thicker (5.7mm) and even thicker (581gr) so far

Not much has changed

of galaxy tab s10 Plus and galaxy tab s9 And they look the same. Granted, the thickness is about 0.1 mm different and the weight is about 10 grams different, but that’s just worth mentioning in passing. The differences in design are not so great that you can basically consider the two to be exactly the same.

However, it is not a negative trait. There’s a lot to love about the current mid-sized Galaxy Tab S tablet, which is as sleek as it gets, with an efficient and minimalist design. I love the design of Samsung’s mid-sized tablets, and I actually use an older Galaxy Tab S7 Plus tablet for my multimedia needs at home. Perfect for movies and TV shows.

Most of it plays in 16:9, the aspect ratio that most media is shot in these days, so you can enjoy your favorite shows and flicks without the back bars at the top and bottom like you would on an iPad. The bezel is thin, but large enough for a firm grip.

Color-wise, it’s a bland pair of moonstone gray and platinum silver, an unexciting pair of shades that don’t go with anything.

Both tablets feature a 12.4-inch wide Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. It’s a beautiful 16:9 screen with up to 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and pretty decent peak brightness.

One of the great new features available in the new version galaxy tab s10 Additionally, there is an anti-reflective coating that comes directly from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It minimizes screen reflections and glare, essentially greatly improving readability. This is a very easy-to-use feature, especially when using the tablet in bright lighting conditions.

Both tablets are IP68 water and dust resistant. The biometric of choice on both tablets is a fingerprint scanner embedded in the display.

Performance and software

Qualcomm withdraws, MediaTek enters

One of the main changes between the new and old tablets is the chipset on deck.

of galaxy tab s10 It also ditched Qualcomm’s Snapdragon in favor of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ chip, likely as a cost-cutting measure due to the rising prices of Qualcomm’s high-end processors.

The octa-core Dimensity 9300+ is a 3rd generation 4nm chip consisting of quad Cortex-X4 performance cores clocked at up to 3.25 GHz and quad Cortex-A720 efficiency cores clocked at 2 GHz. MediaTek boasts that the Dimensity 9300+ is the first chipset to use only big cores, and this appears to be the case.

This promises great performance for gamers and heavy users. The 12-core Immortalis GPU with enhanced 2nd generation ray tracing should also help in such scenarios.

Dimensity 9300+ is also the world’s first chip to feature the latest LPDDR5T RAM, which supports read/write speeds of up to 9600Mbps. There are also hardware-based generation AI engines. this is, Galaxy AI on your tablet.

In our short practical experience, galaxy tab s10 Additionally, I didn’t notice any major differences when comparing it to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 model. Sure, Samsung boasts of improved performance. Specifically, we saw an 18% increase in CPU productivity, a 28% increase in GPU performance, and a 14% increase in NPU computation. This is great, but it’s something you wouldn’t notice in normal everyday scenarios. However, while the Dimensity 9300+ may not be great for emulation tasks, we think it’s more than adequate for day-to-day use. Keep this in mind if you plan on running a large amount of ROM on your device.

Both the 256GB and 512GB versions come with 12GB of RAM, and there’s also microSD card support for expandable storage, which is a nice addition.

new galaxy tab s10 The Plus comes with Samsung’s One UI running on Android 14. Android 15 is expected to arrive in early 2025, along with the next version of One UI. This tablet includes seven years of software updates, just like Samsung’s best phones. That’s great!

There are some additional new features. galaxy tab s10 In addition, apart from the usual Galaxy AI.

Galaxy AI Take notes easily with the large display and S Pen. The tablet supports PDF Overlay Translation to translate PDFs directly on screen, and Handwriting Help cleans up messy handwritten notes thanks to AI.

The Sketch to Image feature transforms rough sketches into polished images to boost your creativity. The Circle to Search feature is a great way to search for information, translate content, and solve math and physics problems without having to switch apps.

Finally, the S Pen’s Air Command and Galaxy AI The key provides quick access to on-device AI features and allows users to switch between Bixby and Google’s Gemini for a personalized AI experience.

of galaxy tab s10 The series can run premium third-party applications such as Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Noteshelf3, Clip Studio Paint, PicsArt, and Sketchbook.

There are dual 13MP wide cameras and 8MP ultrawide cameras on the back. galaxy tab s10+, one 12MP camera on the front. It’s the same settings as above galaxy tab s9 plus.

The rear camera is not that important on a tablet. Quality is not a big issue here as it is only used to take the occasional photo while passing by. More important is the front camera, which is used for video calls. Despite lacking the advanced technology that keeps you in the frame, like the iPad’s center stage, Samsung didn’t disappoint us in this regard.

Battery life and charging

There are no major changes in the battery department. Both come with a 10,900mAh large capacity battery that can keep the lights on for a long time. Exactly how long it will take remains to be seen.

of galaxy tab s9 Additionally, it fared pretty well in our custom battery tests. In PhoneArena’s browsing test, it lasted a good 8 hours and 44 minutes. The tablet lasted 6 hours and 21 minutes in our video test, which is acceptable. In the end, we clocked 8 hours in our gaming test.

Of course, you can expect good battery life. galaxy tab s10 Plus, be better than it, or at least as good as it.

Both support 45W wired charging. Wireless charging function is not installed.

Audio quality and haptics

Both have quad speakers. The audio experience when watching movies and shows should be great. Tactile sense is fine. It’s not too strong or accurate, but it does provide some feedback. Hey, at least these two have haptic feedback (looking at you, iPad).

Which one should I buy?

Well, if you have galaxy tab s9 Moreover, there is no reason to consider it at all. galaxy tab s10 plus. These two are basically the same tablet, except for a few not-so-significant differences. If you’re using it from a Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, there’s no point in upgrading.

However, if you are currently considering purchasing a Samsung tablet; galaxy tab s10 Plus is probably the perfect entry point as it is the newest and has been supported the longest. Of course, if you happen to come across a deal; galaxy tab s9 Plus, make sure to get your hands on it too!
