Databricks has launched a public preview of the Databricks Apps tool, designed to help you quickly and securely build data and AI applications on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. The company says the solution will allow developers to build apps natively on the platform using frameworks such as Dash, Shiny, Gradio, Streamlit, and Flask.
Developers can use code instead of SQL to create data applications for non-technical users. This allows specific business units to create apps tailored to their unique needs. For example, marketing teams can use this tool to create customized dashboards that visualize campaign performance metrics.
The apps you build are deployed directly on the Databricks platform and fully managed, eliminating the need to configure and manage infrastructure. This ensures that data leaves your Databricks environment only when users choose to share it.
Databricks ANZ Country Manager Adam Beavis said the solution will help organizations maximize the potential of their data and AI investments.
“Organizations in Australia and New Zealand are looking for ways to extract more value from their data assets, but building and deploying internal data applications has traditionally been a complex and time-consuming process,” he said. Said. “Developers need to spend time on infrastructure management instead of focusing on app development. Data governance and compliance requires manually implementing access controls. Additionally, app sharing and permissions are It is managed separately from other data assets, creating a disjointed governance experience.”
