Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold smartphones and its predecessors have started receiving the October 2024 security update in some countries. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will get the update in Europe, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will get the update in both Europe and the US.
The October 2024 update started rolling out to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 earlier today, so it’s likely to be released to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 soon as well.
Or at least we hope so. The newest models on the market, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, should get software updates before older devices, but unfortunately that hasn’t happened so far (although Samsung It’s not my fault. See this link for more information).
Galaxy Z Fold 6 updates can be identified by build number F956BXXS1AXI3 or F956USQS1AXIB It depends where you are. Galaxy Z Fold 5 updates can be identified by build number F946BXXS3DXI9.
These updates do not bring Android 15/One UI 7 or any other interesting changes. Only the latest security fixes from Google and Samsung are provided.
To download the latest update on your Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Fold 5, go to that folder. Settings » Software Update Press and hit menu Download and install. Alternatively, download the latest firmware from our archive (Galaxy Z Fold 6 | Fold 5) and install it on your phone via a wired USB connection on your Windows computer.
