Samsung Galaxy S24 series has started receiving October 2024 security updates in the US. AT&T has released the latest patch for carrier-branded S24 devices. This critical firmware update is intended to improve system security and stability.
Earlier today, Samsung released details about its October 2024 security patch. The company emphasized how important the October patch is for Galaxy. Shortly after, the company’s high-end flagship product received the latest patch.
The October 2024 SMR update for Samsung Galaxy S24 series includes fixes for 2 critical CVEs and 28 high-level CVEs. Additionally, this update addresses 12 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items and provides further improvements.
CVE-2024-44068
Samsung’s changelog only states that the October patch is included. Meanwhile, the company emphasized on its security page that it is addressing CVE-2024-44068 in the Samsung Semiconductor division.
A common vulnerability exposure is rated as a high-level flaw and is described as “Mobile Processor Use-After-Free Leads to Privilege Escalation.” Affected chipsets are Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850, and W920.
