houston – Many retailers are offering early Black Friday sales in October, including Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
But how do you know if you’re really getting the best deal or should you wait until the actual Black Friday?
Price tracking apps allow you to find a product’s price history over the past year and compare it to the current price.
These include Honey, Karma, Capital One Shopping, SlickDeals, and Camel Camel Camel. These are free browser extensions. Just download it to your browser and enter the product you want to buy.

Let’s take a look at Honey. Honey tracks prices from multiple retailers.
Let’s say you’re looking for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Honey gave me prices from various retailers, but I noticed the lowest price was on Amazon.
If you keep scrolling down, Honey will show you the price of the product for various dates and you can see how the current price compares to the recent price.
Next, let’s take a look at Camel Camel Camel, which only monitors prices on Amazon.

Camel Camel Camel showed me that it usually sells for about $350. It then dropped to about $320 in August, and even further to $290 during Amazon’s Prime sale.
Next, we reviewed the SAMSUNG 55-inch Odyssey Ark 2nd Generation 4K UHD 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor.
Camel Camel Camel showed a regular price of about $3,000. By Black Friday 2023, it had fallen to $2,000. On Prime Deal Day, it was listed for $1,800.
These price trackers also allow you to set alerts on products you want to buy and notify you when the price drops.
One way to save even more money is to shop using one of the several cash back apps available. Download this app to your phone or as a browser extension.
These include Fetch Rewards, RetailMeNot, Upside, Ibotta, and Rakuten.
FOX 26 Houston is now on the FOX LOCAL app, available on Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV, and Vizio.
For example, Rakuten is a cashback app that pays you cashback directly every three months. It includes over 3,500 retailers and issues payments by check or PayPal. Rakuten also allows you to save on travel costs such as flights, hotels, and rental cars.
RetailMeNot is also a cashback program that can be downloaded as a browser extension. It helps you find the lowest price for the items you’re shopping for. RetailMeNot is known for providing coupon codes and you can also stack several coupon codes to save even more. Once you make a purchase, you will receive cashback via PayPal or Venmo.
Fetch Rewards allows you to take a photo of your purchase or shop receipt through the app. We provide points that can be exchanged for gift cards and cash cards. Points can be used for almost everything, from merchandise to groceries.
