How to choose the right iPad

The best iPad for you will depend on your specific needs and budget. Apple currently sells six iPad models, and there are four main factors that differentiate them: screen size, performance, storage, and price. Check out our guide to the latest iPads to learn more about your options.

We recommend starting by evaluating screen size and portability. The feather-light 8.3-inch iPad Mini offers the ultimate in mobility, while the 13-inch iPad Air and iPad Pro sacrifice portability for the biggest screen. For a mid-weight 10- to 11-inch screen, choose from Apple’s standard iPad, 11-inch iPad Air, or 11-inch iPad Pro.

Performance will vary depending on the tasks you plan to use your tablet for. The standard iPad and iPad Mini can handle everyday apps, but for demanding tasks like photo and video editing, especially rendering, the extra speed offered by the iPad Air and iPad Pro models is valuable.

If you need more storage, the iPad Air and iPad Pro are the best options. It’s the only model to offer 512GB and 1TB options (2TB of storage for the iPad Pro). Current versions of the standard iPad and iPad Mini only offer 64 GB or 256 GB of storage, respectively.

Discounts aside, the starting prices for the current iPad lineup vary widely. The 10th generation iPad starts at $349, and the 13-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,199, with prices varying further for models in between and when you add cellular capabilities.
