We gave the 9th generation iPad a , because of its solid camera, performance, base storage (64GB) upgrade, and solid battery life. In our first video streaming test, it lasted 14 hours on a single charge. It also has a headphone jack, which is another nice feature.
If all you really need to do is read, browse the web, handle email, or watch videos, a tablet can certainly help. Especially if you’re already part of the Apple ecosystem. Although you can use the original Apple Pencil to doodle on this iPad, this model isn’t ideal for professional-level design work or productivity.
Apple tends to support iPads for at least five years when it comes to iPadOS updates, so it’s likely (but not certain) that you’ll be able to install up to iPadOS 20. So you should be able to stream videos to this tablet via Netflix and the like for the next few years.
