TL;DR
- Google’s website seems to suggest that future Samsung phones may be equipped with the flagship MediaTek chipset.
- While there are several reasons to be skeptical about this news, there are also some reasons to expect the Galaxy S25 series to feature Dimensity chips.
Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S25 series in early 2025, but questions have arisen over the chipset choice. However, Google’s DeepMind website may have just hinted at the power of MediaTek’s flagship product in future Samsung phones. Or did you do it?
AlphaChip technology is part of Google’s DeepMind AI division and is an AI method for designing processors. Blog post mentioning AlphaChip’s success (via Gizmochina) seems to suggest that Samsung’s phones will be equipped with flagship MediaTek chips. The post explains that AlphaChip is being used to “accelerate the development of (MediaTek’s) most advanced chips, like the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung phones, while increasing power, performance, and chip area.” ” specifically points out that it was used.
So, is this mention a mistake? Is this post referring to the recently released Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series, which uses the Dimensity 9300 Plus flagship processor? It’s possible, but it’s not referring to the MediaTek chip in Samsung phones. Google isn’t the only source of information.
“AlphaChip’s influence extends beyond Google. MediaTek, a leading chip design company, has selected AlphaChip to power its chips, including those found in Samsung mobile phones.” This is an excerpt from a LinkedIn post by Google employee Steve Soleimani.
Still, this will be an interesting turn of events since Samsung has never used Dimensity’s flagship chips in its phones. Instead, the company has long preferred to use Snapdragon chips in conjunction with its own Exynos processors when possible. Therefore, this tradition is one of the reasons to be skeptical about the Galaxy S25 or S25 FE with MediaTek power.
It’s also possible that both AlphaChip’s blog post and Soleimani are referring to Samsung’s midrange phones powered by MediaTek chips. But the blog post’s mention of “cutting-edge chips” and “Dimensity Flagship 5G” silicon suggests otherwise.
Could this be a step in the right direction?
However, there are also several reasons why the Dimensity chip is a good choice for your Galaxy S25 or S25 FE. As an example, Samsung’s Exynos 2500 is reportedly experiencing production issues related to low yields. Previous reports from South Korea suggest that Samsung needs to improve its yield by the end of the year, but if this Exynos issue persists, the Dimensity 9400 could be a useful fallback option. .
MediaTek’s flagship chip is believed to be cheaper than the Snapdragon SoC, which could lead to higher margins for Samsung or lower prices for consumers. And we know that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will be used in some Galaxy S25 models, will be more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 used in some Galaxy S24 series devices.

There is no doubt that Samsung’s use of MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus in the Galaxy Tab S10 series has given its employees the experience of high-end MediaTek silicon. So that experience could be useful for phones powered by MediaTek’s flagship chip.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the Galaxy S25 series gaining MediaTek power in some capacity. South Korean news outlets made this unsourced claim in June. Most recently, tipster Jukanlosreve reported on October 1st that the base S25 will be equipped with a MediaTek chip. Tipster Yogesh Brar also made this claim yesterday.
In any case, I’ll take AlphaChip’s blog post with a bit of a grain of salt for now. But it does seem like a growing number of sources believe we’ll see a MediaTek-powered Galaxy S25 model. However, we have reached out to Google and MediaTek for comment on this matter and will update the article accordingly.
