Windows 10 gives you features to get the most out of your touchscreen-enabled PC. As the name suggests, this mode, called Tablet Mode, allows you to primarily operate your PC using the touchscreen, much like a tablet.
The steps in this article apply to Windows 10.
What is tablet mode?
Tablet mode is an optional feature that allows Windows 10 users with touchscreen-enabled PCs to use their device by touching the screen instead of using a mouse or keyboard.
Tablet mode displays the Windows 10 user interface and optimizes the use of your PC as a tablet. Such optimizations typically include larger app icons, reducing the number of visible icons, and an on-screen touch keyboard.
Tablet mode and desktop mode
If you’ve been using Windows PCs for a long time, you’re probably more familiar with desktop mode than tablet mode. Tablet mode is a feature created to allow users to operate their PC without using a keyboard or mouse. Desktop mode is basically the predecessor to tablet mode, providing a traditional Windows Start menu and a desktop with as many thumbnail-sized program, app, and document icons as you want.
The main difference between the two modes is appearance. Desktop mode provides a traditional point-and-click workspace. Tablet mode largely eschews the display of many small icons in favor of large square app tiles with animations and content slideshows. conventional[スタート]The menu does not appear to appear in tablet mode, but has been moved to the center of the screen. The large tiles are now in the Start menu and are no longer relegated to the left corner of the screen like they are in desktop mode.
