The first Pixel Tablet was released in 2023, but today’s new Tensor G6 leak reveals that Google is planning another big-screen device in 2027.
According to documents seen by Android permissionsTensor G6 is used in the following Pixel devices:
- base ’26
- Premium ’26
- Fold ’26
- Entry phone ’27
- Tablet Pixel ’27
The Tensor G6 on Pixel tablets will have a second USB-C controller for “tablet-only use cases.” Supports USB 3.2 and DisplayPort output with daisy chaining to enable a second display.
As of now, there is no leaked information specifying what purpose the tablet will use with the additional ports. Android’s desktop window will likely take shape by 2027, so an external display seems like the most likely path. There are also rumors that Google is working on keyboard (and stylus) accessories for the Pixel Tablet.
Combined with the second port, this device seems more focused on productivity than today’s entertainment-focused tablets. However, this Pixel Tablet 3 retains the existing pogo pins for the charging speaker dock.
The earliest opportunity for the Pixel Tablet 2 is next year, so Google could release this product line on a two-year release cycle. Considering the development schedule, there is some indication that the next device will use Tensor G4.
